Abstract: In order to overcome the problem of low sample tolerance of MIPwith a high excitation capability, a new microsample introduction system based on the combination of microelectrothermal vaporization (ETV) and desolvation with concentrated sulfuric acid was developed.Acomparison between the new system and the conventional desolvation system with a condensor was made.It was shown that the water vapor was better removed by the new system and the stability and the excitation capability were therefore improved. The new sample introduction system is of practical usage. The spectroscopic behavior of Ar MIPand He MIPand the effects of easily ionized elements were studied.
