Abstract: Catalytic performance of Ru-Co-Mo/Al2O3and Co-Mo/Al2O3catalysts in thiophene conversion as a model reaction of hydrodesulfurization has been performed, and it is shown that the conversion of thiophene on Ru-Co-Mo/Al2O3catalyst is 2 times of that/on Co-Mo/Al2O3.The infrared adsorption of COand NOon the catalysts reveals that the frequencies of COand NOadsorbed on Co, Mo sites of Ru-Co-Mo/Al2O3were shifted to low wavenumbers and their intensities were increased, in contrast to those on Co-Mo/Al2O3catalyst. It is suggested that some d electrons of ruthenium in Ru-Co-Mo/Al2Os were transferred into Co, Mo sites, leading to an increase of COand NOadsorption abilities.
