Abstract: The precursors were prepared from lithium hydroxide, manganese acetate and citric acid by the method of low heating solid state reaction with the molar ratio of Li+ to Mn 2+ as 1∶2. The composition, structure, reaction mechanism and thermo decomposing process of the precursor were studied by using elemental analysis, IR spectrum, MS spectrum and TG/DTA analysis. The results show that the composition of precursor was fitted as LiMn2L(Ac)2, in which L represents citric acid radical and Ac was acetic acid radical. Spinel LiMn2O4began to form only at 350 ℃ for 4 h.

Key words: Low heating solid state reaction, Precursor, Spinel LiMn2O4
