Abstract: The BET, XRD, TPRtechniques and the measurement of catalytic activity for benzene and acetone oxidation were used to study the reducibility and activity of Cu/γ-Al2O3, Cu-Ag/γ-Al2O3catalysts.It is found that different TPRprofiles are produced with different metal contents, and different copper species are present on the surface of catalysts. With addition of Ag, there is an obvious displacement between the TPRprofiles of γ-Al2O3-supported Cu-Ag and Cu catalysts, and the activity of catalyst for benzene and acetone oxidation is enhanced. The results showed that the forms of copper species, the reducibility and the catalytic activity of catalysts are affected by the variation of treatment temperature. The addition of Ag, to some extent, can improve the thermal stability of catalyst.
