Abstract: We report a facile method to coat rhombohedra CdCO3 microparticles with SiO2 directly by Stber seed growth method. CdCO3@SiO2 core-shell colloid particles were obtained, and the thickness of the SiO2 shell can be modulated in a certain range by adjusting the amount of tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) which was added into the system. As a result, a new species was found which can be coated with SiO2 without surface modification. Furthermore, after removal CdCO3 particles with hydrochloric acid, hollow rhombohedra SiO2 particles were obtained which can be further used as microreactors and so on.
