Synthesis of 2-Pyridinecarboxylic Acid by Electrooxidation

Abstract: 2-Pyridinecarboxylic acid was prepared by electrooxidation of 2-methylpyridine.The analysis and (isolation) of the product were carried out.The influences of reaction conditions,such as the temperature,the(anodic) potential,the concentrations of sulfuric acid and 2-methylpyridine on the selectivity and the current efficiency were studied.Under the optimum conditions,the highest selectivity is 95.3% and the current efficiency is 45.3%.
