Nucleophilic Substitution on Ethylenic Carbon in α,β- Unsaturated Carbonyl Compounds

Abstract: Alkencs containing trifluoroacctyl or trichloroacetyl substilutents can undergo nuclcophilic substitution reaction. The double bond is stable during the course of the reaction. Some of the products may cyclize under certain conditions to give aromatic heterocyclic compounds containing trifluoro- or trichloro- acetyl group. The structures of all products are characterized by1H NMR, IRand elemental analysis.
