Abstract: The water-in-oil(W/0) microemulsions have been prepared by using the surfactant diethylhexyl sodium sulphasuccinate and the oil solvent n-heptane.The transporting behavior of metal ions, such as Cu2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cr3+ and Cr(VI),has been studied from the water phases or feed phases into the microemulsion phases. The optimum conditions of preparing microemulsions and transporting metal ions have been obtained. The experimental results show that all of these metal ions studied except Cr(VI)have high transport ratios under these conditions.
