Abstract: The infrared laser induced chemical reaction of allyl alcohol is a multiple pathway reaction with the competition between dissociation and isomerization. The isorrierization proceeds via 1,3-hy-drogen sigmatropic shift in an excited electronic state, principally agreeing with the classical photo-chemically allowed Woodward-Hoffman rule.
